Happy Inspiration Tuesday!
The inspiration behind this "Mystique" painting. She's on 12" x 12" wood AND she will be published in the next Somerset Studio Gallery Magazine! I will be sure to post photos when I receive my copy. I love going to Barnes and Nobel and having hubby snap a shot of me in front of the magazine rack.
Kinda dorky, but fun!
Mystique started out with an idea for a masquerade piece. I love the idea behind the fancy masks and ballroom dancing! The allure of being able to dress up and pretend.. that's what I still like about Halloween, along with all of the cool decorations and colors!
This is how the sketch started for my girl.
I had been working with a lot of doodles and zentangle style of doodling and wanted to work this in somehow. Her finished mask is full of zentangle doodles!
If you haven't tried this relaxing and fun technique, I highly recommend it. There are classes you can take online here at Zentangle and Kai-Zen Doodles, they look so fun!
After the mask I just worked with my chosen jewel tone colors and added REAL feathers that I purchased online from etsy shop, Our Sacred Earth. Such the perfect add on to her fun mask!
Happy Creating, ~Alicia♥
