Spread your wings and let the fairy in you fly!
I hope this weekend you will do something fun and memorable. I am planning on making Fairy Jars this weekend with my girls. I am absolutely in love with the idea of this being a warming little night-light. If I am happy with how these turn out, I’m planning on collecting small jars (like baby food jars) and creating a bunch as a party favor take home gift.
This is the DIY Fairy Magic or Firefly Jar I am going to try…
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
○ Jar of your choice (find these inexpensively at goodwill or the dollar store)
○ Glow in the Dark Fabric Paint (find this at your craft or fabric store like Michael’s)
○ Acetate paper (find this at craft stores, scrapbook stores or office supply stores)
If you don’t want to track down this special paper… Simply dot the paint right into the jar with a long handle paint brush. Be sure to start at the bottom and work towards the top. To begin, cut the acetate paper to fit on the inside of your jar, then dot on the glow in the dark paint, let dry. You may want to speed this process up by using a hairdryer to help it along. Put the painted acetate paper inside your jar – the paint bumps facing the outside of the jar. Boom! You now have a Fairy Magic or a Firefly jar. Remember small dots placed close together look better than large dots far apart. Read the instructions on the glow in the dark fabric paint, some glow in the dark paints need to set out in the sun for a bit to activate their glow in the dark chemistry.
This would be such a fun centerpiece at parties, bridal showers, even weddings. You may want to add glitter to the lid if you have a flat lid in need of a special magical touch.
Happy creating! ~Alicia
May the fairy magic be with you
